Who We Are & What We Believe

At St Stephen’s Anglican Church, Greythorn we believe God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ graciously loves us, and He has adopted us as His children to be heirs in His kingdom.

We believe in the uniqueness of Christ as the only Son of God, who died on the cross as our Saviour and who physically rose from the dead, and has ascended into heaven. Jesus is Lord and there is no other!

We believe in the authority and reliability of the bible as the Word of God, and we believe God the Holy Spirit works in each individual to bring them to new birth in Christ.

We are Christ centred and preoccupied with seeing Him glorified.

We are dependent on God in prayer.

We are bible centred, a church where the relevance of biblical principles in contemporary life is explained, providing guidance for our Christian lives.

We are committed to gospel ministry.

We are committed to local evangelism and bringing people to Jesus.

We are committed to Christian Mission beyond our boundaries.

We affirm the Historic faith of the Christian Church as stated in the Apostle’s and Nicene Creeds, and reflected in the doctrine of the 39 articles of the Anglican church, and in the Book of Common Prayer. We embrace our Anglican tradition, doctrine and structure.

We are committed to being a community of Christian believers involved with each other, characterized by a gracious Christian spirit, and therefore welcoming to others and mutually supportive.

We have an active commitment to lay ministry.

We are committed to small group encouragement.

We are committed to spiritual nourishment through Word and sacrament.

We seek to engage the local community by radiating a visible, vibrant Christian presence that glorifies Jesus and draws people into a relationship with him.

We are very much a work in progress.

The statements above describe who we are seeking to be. We still have much work to do in order to be the church we believe God is calling us to be, but we are committed to making these things a reality in our life together.
